Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Assembly Mechanic to support 2nd shift manufacturing operations in Brooklyn Park, MN. In this hands-on role, you will assemble mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards. The position involves working with mechanical tools, torque equipment, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and metric measurements to build high-quality equipment safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, previous assembly or related hands-on experience, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. This role is well suited for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a production team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prioritize safety in all daily activities and follow established manufacturing safety procedures.
• Assemble products and mechanical systems according to engineering prints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Use mechanical hand tools, torque tools, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and metric measurements during assembly.
• Complete accurate electronic and manual production and quality documentation.
• Identify, document, and communicate assembly, production, or quality issues and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hoists safely as required.
• Coordinate work to meet production schedules, quality expectations, and department goals.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and support personnel throughout the manufacturing process.
• Work independently with limited supervision once trained.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.
• Work overtime as needed based on production requirements.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical assembly or related hands-on experience, or completion of a certified trade school or technical program in a mechanical or manufacturing-related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical work instructions.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hoists; training may be provided as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work scheduled overtime when required.
Working Conditions:
• Manufacturing environment with exposure to active production equipment, machinery, and changing temperatures.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand and work for 8-hour shifts with minimal breaks.
• Frequent kneeling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, and working in tight or awkward spaces.
• Ability to work at multiple heights, including climbing on equipment, machines, ladders, and step stools.
• Frequent repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotational movements.
• Fine motor skills required for detailed and precision assembly tasks.
• Regular use of wrenches, drills, cutters, tie wrap guns, pneumatic tools, vibratory tools, and manual torque tools.
• Must be able to use manual torque tools up to 250 Newton meters or 185 foot-pounds.
• Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed/metatarsal footwear; dust masks may be required as needed.
