Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined CNC Maintenance Technician to join a manufacturing team in Ham Lake, MN. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machinery and related production equipment to ensure equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC maintenance experience along with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys diagnosing technical issues, completing preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous production operations in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and related production equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Diagnose machine malfunctions and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Repair or replace defective components, including motors, drives, wiring, sensors, and other machine components
- Inspect equipment to identify potential maintenance concerns before they result in downtime
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize interruptions to production
Electrical & Technical Support
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on CNC systems
- Support machine calibration and alignment as needed
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment performance and identify mechanical or electrical causes of machine issues
Production Support & Safety
- Work closely with production team members to address equipment concerns and support operational needs
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Track completed repairs and preventative maintenance activities
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance policies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance area
- Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assist with additional maintenance and production support responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
Required
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience working with CNC machines
- Experience performing electrical work and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance tasks effectively
- Ability to safely work around machinery, electrical systems, and industrial equipment
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, kneel, and perform hands-on maintenance tasks
- Ability to occasionally lift and handle materials, tools, or components weighing up to 50 pounds
Preferred
- Experience troubleshooting PLC systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Formal technical training in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field
- Previous experience maintaining CNC equipment in a precision machining environment
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with regular exposure to CNC machinery, electrical systems, and industrial equipment
- Exposure to oils, coolants, machinery, and moderate noise levels
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and hands-on equipment maintenance
- Work may involve responding to unexpected equipment breakdowns and changing maintenance priorities
- Regular use of maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and electrical testing equipment
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Work requires consistent adherence to electrical, equipment, and workplace safety procedures
