Our client is an established precision machining company specializing in CNC turning, milling, screw machine work, and other machining services. Their capabilities range from prototypes to long production runs, with a focus on quality workmanship, precision, and efficient production.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join an established precision machining team. This position is focused on CNC lathe operation and requires a minimum of two years of lathe experience.
The ideal candidate is comfortable independently changing inserts, operating CNC lathes, and using precision measuring equipment to ensure finished components meet dimensional and quality requirements. Candidates who have experience completing their own CNC lathe setups are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC lathes and other assigned machining equipment according to job specifications.
- Set up CNC lathes independently when qualified and experienced.
- Change cutting inserts and tooling as required throughout production.
- Monitor tooling condition and replace inserts as needed to maintain part quality.
- Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and production requirements.
- Load raw materials and components into machines for production.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Make machine, tooling, and offset adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and overall quality.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to verify parts meet specifications.
- Identify and report quality concerns, machine issues, or production discrepancies.
- Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
- Maintain established production and quality standards throughout the workday.
- Keep machines, tooling, and surrounding work areas clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety procedures and machine operating requirements.
- Assist with additional machining and production responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of CNC lathe experience required.
- Must have hands-on experience changing inserts on CNC lathes.
- Experience independently setting up CNC lathes strongly preferred.
- Ability to make basic tooling and machine adjustments during production.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools required.
- Understanding of machining processes, tooling, and dimensional tolerances.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Ability to accurately follow job specifications and production instructions.
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a production team.
- Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, and handle materials and components.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Precision machining and manufacturing environment.
- Regular operation of CNC lathes and exposure to cutting tools, metal components, and production equipment.
- Frequent standing, reaching, bending, and repetitive movement throughout the workday.
- Regular use of precision measuring instruments and machining tools.
- Position requires consistent attention to machine operation, tooling condition, accuracy, and quality.
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must follow established machine operation and workplace safety procedures.
