Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Grinder Machinist to join a precision manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating ID and OD cylindrical grinding equipment to manufacture components according to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and tight tolerance requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong grinding setup experience, understands GD&T, and is comfortable using precision measuring and inspection equipment. This position is well suited for a skilled machinist who takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and producing high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate ID and OD cylindrical grinding equipment.
- Perform precision grinding operations according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Set up machines, tooling, and components for assigned production jobs.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain required specifications and tolerances.
- Perform tooling changes and setup adjustments as needed.
- Verify completed work using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure components meet customer and quality requirements.
- Interpret and apply GD&T requirements during machining and inspection.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining, setup, and quality concerns.
- Document inspection results and communicate quality issues as needed.
- Prioritize jobs according to production schedules and due dates.
- Accurately report job progress using company scheduling and tracking systems.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Assist with fabricating new components from engineering drawings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience setting up and operating ID and OD cylindrical grinders required.
- Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality requirements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet established production schedules and deadlines.
- Two-year Machine Tool diploma or related technical degree preferred
- Experience fabricating components from engineering drawings preferred.
- Previous experience in a precision manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive, precision-focused tasks.
- Ability to frequently bend and reach while setting up and operating equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials, components, and tooling as needed.
- Strong visual acuity to inspect precision components and verify measurements.
- Ability to safely work around operating manufacturing equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Precision manufacturing environment with exposure to grinding equipment and machinery.
- Moderate production noise throughout the facility.
- Frequent use of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Exposure to typical machining materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
