About Our Client:
Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in precision cutting and fabrication of materials such as wood, steel, and plastics. They operate in a fast-paced production environment with a strong focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a mechanically minded Laser Operator to set up and operate industrial laser cutting equipment. This hands-on position involves loading large sheets of material, monitoring machine performance, operating computer-controlled equipment, and ensuring finished products meet established quality specifications.
Candidates must have previous hands-on machine operating experience or demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machinery operates. Previous laser or CNC experience is preferred but not required for someone with a strong mechanical background and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate industrial laser cutting equipment.
- Load large sheets of laminated wood, steel, plastic, and other materials into machines.
- Properly align and secure materials before beginning the cutting process.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure accurate cutting and consistent performance.
- Use computer-controlled systems to operate and monitor production equipment.
- Safely load and unload materials from machinery.
- Move and organize finished materials within the production area.
- Measure and verify finished parts using rulers and other measuring tools.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic machine, equipment, or material issues.
- Recognize machine performance concerns and communicate problems to the appropriate team member.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Assist with additional production responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous machine operating experience or strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Must be mechanically minded with the ability to understand and learn how production machinery operates.
- Previous laser, CNC, or similar machine operating experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Comfortable learning and operating computer-controlled equipment.
- Strong basic math skills and ability to accurately read measurements.
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machine or production issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, and perform hands-on production tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular exposure to industrial machinery, production equipment, and various materials.
- Hands-on work involving machinery, material handling, and computer-controlled equipment.
- Position requires consistent focus on machine operation, safety, accuracy, and product quality.
- Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Must consistently follow established machine operation and workplace safety procedures.
