Position Overview:
The Vision Companies is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Mold Setup Technician to join a growing production team in New Hope, MN. This position is responsible for performing mold setups according to production schedules while ensuring molds, tooling, and equipment are properly installed, maintained, and production-ready.
This position will begin on 1st shift for the first few months to complete hands-on training. Once training is successfully completed, the role will transition permanently to 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM).
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Mold Setup & Machine Operation
- Safely remove and install molds in hydraulic rubber molding machines
- Adjust press controls and machine setup parameters according to work instructions
- Verify setup accuracy and ensure molds and hardware are properly secured
- Troubleshoot mold setup and production issues as needed
- Prepare equipment for efficient production startup
Mold Maintenance & Organization
- Clean molds using glass bead blasting equipment
- Inspect molds for damage and ensure tooling is production-ready
- Maintain organized mold storage areas and tooling inventory
- Ensure setup equipment is properly labeled and maintained
Production Support & Quality
- Work closely with supervisors to coordinate production schedules and setup priorities
- Complete documentation for damaged molds and tooling
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and workplace organization
- Assist production teams as needed to meet manufacturing goals
Safety & General Duties
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Maintain safe work practices while operating machinery and handling molds
- Report equipment concerns and safety issues promptly
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of 1–2 years of mechanical experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Basic math skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
Preferred
- Previous mold setup experience
- Rubber molding or plastics manufacturing experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, molds, and production equipment
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and movement throughout the shift
- Regular lifting of 20–30 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Required use of PPE and adherence to all safety procedures
- Initial training on 1st shift before transitioning to permanent 3rd shift
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Manual dexterity to safely operate machinery, tooling, and equipment
- Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment and moving machinery
