Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Line Lead to oversee and support daily operations on a semi-automated production line processing dry materials. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for coordinating workflow, verifying equipment and line setup, maintaining production and quality standards, and providing guidance to production team members.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing and leadership experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to keep production running safely and efficiently while maintaining established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee a production team of 1–4 employees.
- Communicate daily job expectations, specifications, and production goals to team members.
- Train, coach, and mentor production employees on processes, equipment, safety, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate workflow and provide hands-on production support as needed.
- Verify line setup, materials, and equipment before beginning production runs.
- Collaborate with team members to properly calibrate equipment for each order.
- Assemble and disassemble production equipment as required.
- Operate and monitor semi-automated production equipment.
- Identify and address basic mechanical or production issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure equipment and materials are properly prepared for each production run.
- Conduct in-process quality checks to ensure product and filling specifications are met.
- Monitor productivity, safety, and quality performance throughout production.
- Identify operational concerns and assist with implementing effective solutions.
- Ensure established production procedures and quality standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain accurate production information and documentation as required.
- Safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional production responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or industrial experience required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience required.
- Forklift certification with at least 1 year of forklift experience required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience operating production equipment.
- Previous experience with semi-automated production equipment preferred.
- Experience training or mentoring production employees preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Strong math and measurement skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address basic production and equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to effectively communicate expectations and provide direction to team members.
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading a small production team.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and remain physically active throughout the workday.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and handle materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate production machinery, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, machinery, production materials, and varying temperatures.
- Regular operation of semi-automated production and material-handling equipment.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movement.
- Physically active role requiring hands-on involvement in daily production operations.
- Regular interaction with dry materials and industrial processing equipment.
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must follow established equipment operation, quality, and workplace safety procedures.
