Compensation: $145,000 annually + Leadership Incentives
Reports To: President
Travel Requirements: Regular travel to commercial project sites and customer locations

Job Summary:
The Vice President of Commercial Operations provides executive leadership and operational oversight for the commercial division. This position is responsible for developing Commercial Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Estimators while ensuring projects are completed efficiently, profitably, and according to established quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with exceptional operational, financial, and relationship-management skills who is passionate about developing people, improving processes, and contributing to long-term organizational growth.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Commercial Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Estimators 
  • Lead continuing education initiatives and monthly operations meetings 
  • Evaluate team performance, identify development opportunities, and create accountability 
  • Partner with ownership to recruit, interview, hire, and develop team members 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth 
Operational Leadership
  • Support Project Managers in delivering successful and profitable commercial projects 
  • Review contracts, project execution, scheduling, customer communication, and financial performance 
  • Promote operational consistency and process improvements across commercial projects 
  • Maintain working knowledge of RFMS, Schedule Pro, Measure, and related operating systems 
  • Monitor project performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and profitability 
Strategic Leadership
  • Participate in corporate planning, business strategy, and evaluation of growth opportunities 
  • Evaluate potential investments, expansion opportunities, and operational improvements 
  • Support leadership development and long-term organizational objectives 
  • Help strengthen company culture and contribute to long-term business success 
Customer & Industry Relationships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, architects, vendors, and industry partners 
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally while protecting long-term business relationships 
  • Approach challenges as opportunities to strengthen customer relationships 
  • Represent the organization professionally and with integrity in all interactions

Qualifications:
Required
  • Proven leadership experience in commercial operations, construction, flooring, or a related industry 
  • Strong project management, operational, and financial management experience 
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams 
  • Ability to review project financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills 
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business management software 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record 
  • Ability to travel regularly to commercial project sites and customer locations 
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday 
  • Ability to use computers and office equipment for extended periods 
  • Ability to occasionally lift project materials or equipment up to 25 pounds 
Preferred
  • Experience with RFMS, Schedule Pro, Measure, or similar industry software 
  • Executive leadership experience overseeing multiple commercial projects 
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives 
 
Working Conditions:
  • Professional office environment with regular travel to commercial project sites 
  • Frequent interaction with customers, contractors, architects, vendors, industry partners, and internal leadership 
  • Fast-paced leadership environment requiring management of multiple priorities and deadlines 
  • Occasional evening or extended hours based on project and business needs 
 
Benefits:
  • Quarterly Leadership Incentive: 2% of the Commercial Division's quarterly over/under profits for Project Managers based upon finalized quarterly reports and standard accounting practices. This incentive is designed to reward leadership contributions to continued growth, operational success, and long-term profitability. Participation is contingent upon satisfactory performance, adherence to company policies, and active employment at the time the incentive is paid. The company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the incentive program as business conditions or company objectives require. 
  • Monthly Revenue Share: 0.15% of monthly commercial revenue. This incentive is designed to reward revenue volume and operational success. Participation is contingent upon satisfactory performance, adherence to company policies, and active employment at the time the incentive is paid. The company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the incentive program as business conditions or company objectives require.
