“Made in America” once referred only to a product’s origin but now, it’s something deeper. It’s about people. About heart. About showing up, standing tall, and taking pride in your role – whatever that may be.
While traveling in Hong Kong, I met with local business leaders who spoke with admiration about the American workforce. They told me, “We can replicate your processes, your software, your engineering, even your tools but we can’t replicate the human side of American workers.” That stuck with me. Because the American spirit isn’t something you can manufacture. It’s found in the connections we build, the relationships we foster, and the empathy and authenticity we bring into our workplaces. Whether you’re managing a team, welding a frame, or leading a classroom, the emotional intelligence and relational depth we carry into the job are what truly set us apart.
It reminded me that being “Made in America” is less about the stamp on a product and more about the character of the people behind it. It’s our human side that’s irreplaceable. Our ability to care, to collaborate, to innovate with soul. That’s what needs protecting and nurturing. It’s also what we need to bring forward because no matter how skilled you are, it’s your spirit and who you are that makes you indispensable.
