A friend of mine is a drain cleaner, he owns his own business and takes pride in the quality work he does. He once shared that he was at a home, and was asked if the client’s kids could watch what he was doing. He of course said “yeah, no problem!” The parents then proceeded to share with their children, “This is the reason why you need to go to school – so you don’t end up cleaning drains”. I was aghast when I heard this story! I truly believe we all have gifts and skills to share in this world – and I personally admire those with hands on skills who utilize them in the skilled trades.
