The Importance of Reducing the Environmental Impact of Your Business

At The Vision Companies, we are committed to controlling and reducing our environmental impact on the communities where we live and work. We are also willing to regularly revisit and revise our business practices and utilize more innovative solutions that have a lesser impact on the environment. If you want to reduce the environmental impact of your business, we have some insight that may help you make changes moving forward.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

To lessen our impact on the earth, we must embrace the concept of the waste hierarchy. This is best demonstrated with the common idea of reducing, reusing, and recycling:

  • Reduce the creation and dependence on disposable items
  • Reuse and repurpose items that would have otherwise been discarded
  • Recycle items that can be used in the production of new items, such as cardboard or glass

Go Paperless

In our office, one way we have committed to reducing our dependence on disposable items is by going paperless. We have taken steps to computerize our application process, which reduces the paper we use from 20 sheets to only three. Because of this solution, our applicants save time and can apply with us during non-business hours, making the process much more convenient. And it’s helped us save over 5 trees every year.

Consider Remote Work

For some companies, the answer lies in remote work arrangements. When the pandemic forced a lot of companies to transition workers to work from home, they discovered there were more benefits than just health and safety. Working from home means fewer cars on the road contributing to air pollution. And companies don’t have to pay for the overhead of keeping a corporate office.

Community Involvement

Candidates today are looking for employers with a commitment to the community around them. Not only does volunteering and fundraising benefit your local environment and community, but it also creates a positive reputation that will attract top talent. It shows that you’re committed to being a steward of the earth and the community where you live and work.
