Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Mechanical / Sheet Metal Fabrication Drafter to develop accurate fabrication drawings and supporting documentation for shop production. This position interprets project specifications, blueprints, customer drawings, and architectural plans to create detailed AutoCAD and Inventor drawings that accurately reflect project requirements and fabrication intent.
The ideal candidate has experience with AutoCAD and Inventor, understands technical and fabrication drawings, and can effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize AutoCAD and Inventor to produce accurate fabrication drawings for internal and customer review.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, customer drawings, and architectural plans.
- Develop detailed drawings that accurately communicate project scope, dimensions, and fabrication requirements.
- Ensure drawings meet production, project, and quality standards.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and potential discrepancies.
- Identify and correct drafting or design issues before drawings are released for fabrication.
- Partner with Project Management, Engineering, and Production teams to support project coordination and successful handoffs.
- Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, correspondence, drawings, and updates within project workflow systems.
- Complete internal project tracking and time documentation.
- Monitor assigned project progress and escalate technical issues or delays to drafting leadership.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines.
- Maintain organized electronic files and drafting documentation.
- Follow company drafting procedures and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of Autodesk Inventor experience required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2020 or newer required.
- Proficiency with Inventor 2024 or newer required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of drafting principles and technical concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drafting accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Management, Engineering, Production, customers, and other internal teams.
- Experience with architectural metal panels, sheet metal fabrication, cladding, commercial construction, or related building-envelope products preferred.
- Ability to work additional hours or overtime as required by project deadlines and business needs.
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based position supporting fabrication and production operations.
- Frequent computer-based drafting, drawing review, and project documentation.
- Position is performed onsite in Rogers, MN.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring management of multiple projects and priorities.
- Regular collaboration with Project Management, Engineering, Production, and other internal departments.
- Schedule flexibility may occasionally be required to support project deadlines, production demands, and customer commitments.
- Occasional early mornings, late afternoons, evenings, weekends, or overtime may be required based on business needs.
