Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Tube Machine Laser Operator to join a manufacturing team in Brooklyn Center, MN. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC tube laser cutting equipment to produce precision aluminum components according to production specifications.
The ideal candidate has at least 2–3 years of CNC laser operating experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards. Previous tube laser experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC tube laser cutting machines according to production requirements.
- Stage raw materials, load materials into machines, and unload finished components.
- Program machines according to work orders and utilize nesting software to minimize material waste.
- Review CNC programs and machine software to ensure accurate production.
- Inspect processed aluminum tube components to verify dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production specifications.
- Use tape measures, calipers, and measuring gauges to verify finished products.
- Troubleshoot machine issues to improve productivity and minimize downtime.
- Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures.
- Monitor machine inputs and operating conditions throughout production.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Follow production schedules and complete required paperwork accurately.
- Monitor material quality and identify defects or production concerns.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.
- Follow established safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and quality concerns.
- Participate in safety meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, and other company programs.
- Assist with additional manufacturing responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of CNC laser machine operating experience required.
- Previous CNC tube laser experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to understand and interpret CNC machine codes and programming instructions.
- Working knowledge of CNC machine software and computer equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production specifications.
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, calipers, and measuring gauges in both metric and standard measurements.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations and manufacturing measurements.
- Ability to recognize material quality and identify defects.
- Understanding of production efficiency, productivity measurements, and scrap reduction.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work additional hours as required.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
- Ability to stand for most of the workday.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds or more frequently, approximately 50–74% of the workday.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with regular exposure to CNC laser cutting machinery, metal materials, and production equipment.
- Physically active position requiring prolonged standing and frequent material handling.
- Regular use of computers, measuring tools, and manufacturing equipment.
- Fast-paced production environment requiring attention to safety, accuracy, and productivity.
- Two paid 20-minute breaks provided.
- Additional hours may be required based on production needs.
- Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Employees must follow established safety, quality, and equipment operating procedures.
