Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Mechanic to support production equipment, building systems, and facility operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues, completing preventative and breakdown maintenance, and helping keep production running safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has either a 2-year technical degree or at least 3 years of relevant maintenance or mechanical repair experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends. Training will take place on 1st shift.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prioritize safety at all times with the goal of preventing injuries, occupational illnesses, and safety incidents.
• Perform breakdown maintenance on production equipment including hoists, cranes, paint booths, welders, and metalworking machines.
• Maintain and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and related facility equipment.
• Complete simple to complex preventative maintenance on production and building equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and facility issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
• Use an electronic maintenance system to review, confirm, and document work orders daily.
• Identify, document, communicate, and correct maintenance concerns discovered during repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Operate equipment including forklifts, man lifts, maintenance vehicles, and snow plow trucks as needed.
• Assist with facility maintenance duties including welding, plumbing, snow removal, and general repairs.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a maintenance and production team.
• Adapt to varying shift schedules as needed to support facility and production operations.
Qualifications:
• 2-year technical degree or 3+ years of experience in maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field.
• Experience troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on production equipment and building systems.
• Experience using hand tools, air tools, lathes, drill presses, forklifts, and man lifts.
• Ability to perform welding, pipe fitting, carpentry, and basic electrical repairs.
• Familiarity with crane equipment and the ability to read hydraulic and electrical prints.
• Comfortable using computer-based maintenance tracking systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and communicate equipment concerns.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, based on operational needs.
Working Conditions:
• Manufacturing environment with active production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Ability to operate maintenance vehicles, forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment as required.
• Exposure to industrial noise levels of 85 dB or greater and frequently changing temperatures.
• Frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to climb on equipment and ladders and work in tight or awkward spaces.
• Frequent repetitive motions including grasping, pulling, pushing, rotating, and fine motor tasks.
• Regular use of maintenance hand tools and equipment throughout the shift.
• Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toed/metatarsal footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, grinding shields, and other PPE as required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
