Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Milling Machinist to join a precision manufacturing team in Blaine, MN. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC milling machines to produce precision components that meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.
The ideal candidate has extensive CNC milling experience and is comfortable independently completing machine setups, troubleshooting machining issues, making program adjustments, and inspecting finished components. This role is ideal for a machinist who takes pride in craftsmanship, precision, efficiency, and producing consistently high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Machining & Setup
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components
- Select, install, and adjust tooling and fixtures according to job requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, technical drawings, and machining specifications
- Complete multiple machine setups while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
- Monitor machining operations to ensure equipment is operating properly
- Make necessary adjustments throughout the machining process to maintain specifications
Programming & Troubleshooting
- Edit CNC programs and machine offsets to optimize performance
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues
- Make adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and improve production efficiency
- Identify potential machining concerns and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Work independently to resolve technical and production challenges
Quality & Inspection
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Verify dimensions and tolerances throughout the machining process
- Ensure completed parts meet customer specifications and established quality standards
- Identify and communicate quality concerns as appropriate
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, and job documentation
Continuous Improvement & Machine Maintenance
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, efficiency, and quality
- Help reduce waste and improve overall production performance
- Perform routine machine maintenance and inspections
- Ensure machines, tooling, and equipment remain in proper operating condition
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all established safety, quality, and production procedures
Qualifications:
Required
- 5–10+ years of CNC milling experience
- Strong experience with CNC machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
- Strong math and precision measurement skills
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Ability to edit programs and machine offsets as needed
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
- Ability to stand and move throughout the majority of the shift
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements associated with machining operations
- Ability to lift and handle materials, tooling, or components weighing up to 50 pounds as needed
Preferred
- Experience with complex or tight-tolerance machining
- CNC programming experience or advanced program-editing capabilities
- Previous experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Working Conditions:
- Precision manufacturing environment with regular exposure to CNC machinery, tooling, and production equipment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive movements throughout the shift
- Regular use of precision measuring equipment and machining tools
- Hands-on work around industrial machinery requiring consistent attention to safety
- Fast-paced, precision-focused environment requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Overtime may be required on Fridays based on production needs
- Required adherence to established safety procedures and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
