Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Machine Setup Technician to support metal fabrication operations. This position is primarily responsible for setting up punch press equipment, including tooling, dies, and machine settings, to ensure accurate and efficient production.
Candidates with press brake or similar machine setup experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on setup experience, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and tooling while maintaining established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up punch press machines and related equipment for production runs.
- Install and adjust tooling and dies according to job specifications.
- Configure machine settings to meet production and quality requirements.
- Complete machine changeovers efficiently to minimize production downtime.
- Verify machine setups before production begins.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications.
- Verify completed setups and parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machine setup, tooling, and production issues.
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain accurate and consistent production.
- Work closely with machine operators to support efficient production flow.
- Identify and communicate equipment or tooling concerns as needed.
- Maintain tools, dies, and setup equipment in an organized manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and production requirements.
- Assist with additional production and shop responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous machine setup experience with punch presses, press brakes, or similar manufacturing equipment required.
- Direct punch press setup experience preferred.
- Previous metal fabrication or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to install and adjust tooling, dies, and machine settings.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify setup or tooling issues and make appropriate adjustments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to safely handle tooling, materials, and equipment as required by the position.
Working Conditions:
- Hands-on metal fabrication and manufacturing environment.
- Regular exposure to punch presses, press brakes, tooling, dies, and other production equipment.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the workday.
- Fast-paced production environment focused on quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must follow established machine operation and workplace safety procedures.
