Jackie came to the Vision Company in 2015 and not only is our receptionist, but the glue that holds us all together. She always knows what’s happening in our building and where to find anyone at any given time; it’s a juggling job she does well. Jackie loves the diversity in her job, meeting new people and having the opportunity to grow and learn each day.
Why do you love your job: I love being part of a company that exemplifies the philosophy of “doing well by doing good.” I also really enjoy the wide variety of people I get to talk to while performing my role at the front desk. It’s a pleasure being the first point of contact for so many of our employees and customers.
What do you do outside of work: If we would ever get snow, I love to snowshoe. I’ve participated twice in the Loppet Luminary, snowshoeing on Lake of the Isles at night with hundreds of other hardy Minnesotans. In the summer, I try to visit several state parks. I also try to find new sidewalk cafes and rooftop restaurants in Minneapolis. I’m a city girl at heart, but have never had the chance to live there, so I visit when I can. No matter the weather, I’m always up for live theatre, and I’m so grateful for the artistic community we have here in Minnesota. Believe it or not, I can still find time to read literary fiction and creative non-fiction. So many books, so little time!
Motto you live by: Listen to your heart.
What is the most interesting thing about you? All four of my children were born at home, and I homeschooled them thru high school.
What is something people don’t know about you? Most people don’t know that at the age of 46 I worked for a road maintenance crew based out of Eau Claire. We worked in four states until the weather ended the work season. The best job we had was in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; at the end of every long day we got to unwind along the shore of Lake Superior. The most challenging assignment was on I-90 in Iowa; semi-trucks do NOT like to slow down for road work! Very dangerous indeed.
