12 Days of Christmas Stories: Day 7

Day 7: Coming together….

Today was the big day, our annual Customer & Employee Appreciation event! It was so much fun to see SO MANY people! This time of year is intense and our office is an office, until it’s not. Everything starts bit by bit. Every year we decorate, have food, and visitors come. But every year it’s unique in it’s own way too. I had a 3rd baby and I’m on leave right now and I’ve been removed from the day to day planning of the event. So to come in for the day itself felt a bit like being a fly on the wall or a visitor witnessing it all from a distance.

Similarly…our process at Vision is never exactly the same but we always start somewhere and keep making progress to pull it together. These are some of our stories….

  • Samuel – had a record from 2015 when he came to us looking for work – previous agencies he worked with weren’t honest with him and he couldn’t get hired because of his background. He valued our honesty at the forefront with our clients. He found a new home, a great gig where he LOVES the leader he works for and the team he’s a part of. They’re all so understanding of one another and he said he finally feels like he has a place to call home. ❤
  • We met with Rob and talked in detail. He ghosted us and after 5 months came back to say he was sorry. We took a chance and ever since he’s been communicative and great! He landed in a role he loves and followed up to tell us how happy he is!
  • Jeremy worked with us in 2012 but found his own gig. He came back now and we were thrilled. He was about to get hired on and failed the drug screen. He was embarrassed and didn’t tell us but his assignment ended. We got wind and got in touch and send him elsewhere. He landed in a new position where they recognized him as a star performer and it’s perfect. SO happy for you Jeremy!
  • When we interviewed Jenna she was doing odds and ends jobs and was previously in an abusive relationship. She had charges on her background and that made it hard to find work. She disclosed early on that she was in a stage of life that was rebuilding and open to anything. She started an entirely new gig and since she was such a team player, reliable, upbeat and happy – she’s been wildly successful!
  • Duane had so many challenges onboarding with us – transportation, parts shortages/waiting for work, pay, etc. And yet, none of them were ever a barrier to hm getting to work and making it a priority. He was a tad ornery, but at the end of day, he’s thriving bc of his work ethic!

Special shout out to our wildly special team for pulling everything together for our event today; it’s a great deal of work and commitment to do and I’m endlessly grateful you choose to show up in big ways and in your own unique ways. ❤ ❤ ❤

See you tomorrow,

Heather
