How To Prevent the Sunday Scaries

By April 19, 2021 April 30th, 2021 Job Seekers, Managers

Everyone is thankful for Friday, but very few people express love for a Sunday night before having to go back to work on Monday. If you have a hard time getting back into the swing of things at the beginning of the week, there are a few lifestyle changes you can do to avoid the Sunday Scaries. Let’s take a look at the ways you can ease into the new workweek.

Sleep Well

Poor sleep is the enemy of productivity. Many of us stay up later on weekend nights, but this can have a negative impact on the workweek. On Sunday night, treat bedtime like you would during the workweek. Create a relaxing nighttime routine and go to bed at a consistent time. Avoid screen time after you get in bed and keep your bedroom cooler than you would keep your home during the day.

Drink Plenty of Water

Did you know dehydration can exacerbate hypertension and increase your body’s anxiety response? Once you feel thirsty, your body is already experiencing dehydration. Stay on top of your need for liquid and drink mostly water. Avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages. These can give you a quick boost of energy, but the effects are temporary.

Plan Your Week

If you’ve ever felt like you’re scrambling on Monday, one of the quick fixes is to prepare ahead on Friday. Spend a little time Friday afternoon in the office getting your desk in order, creating a Monday morning to-do list, and putting systems in place to be able to hit the ground running when you get back into the office feeling refreshed after the weekend.

Stay Positive

Sometimes the difference between a bad day and a good day is your attitude. Staying positive can help you remain focused so you can approach your work with interest and curiosity instead of stress and frustration. Use your power of positivity to make even the most difficult tasks more exciting.

A few strategic changes in your daily routine can help you transition from Sunday Scaries to Thank Goodness It’s Monday. Leave your case of the Mondays behind and look forward to each new week with a renewed energy.
