Is your Company Culture Retaining or Deterring Talent?

By December 12, 2022 Managers

Now more than ever, a company’s reputation impacts the perspectives of potential candidates. How you represent yourself as an employer will influence whether applicants want to work with you and stick around. When you examine your current company culture, do you believe it attracts new talent and retains current employees? Or do you think your culture might be toxic and push people away? Here are some questions to ask yourself.

Are My Employees Happy?

Employee satisfaction will be among the most critical determiners for your organization. How does your team feel about the company, the mission, the day-to-day job duties, and the environment? Are they positive in the office, or do they express symptoms of burnout? Watch for signs of dissatisfaction but encourage a more positive and engaged environment wherever possible.

Is My team Well Supported and Able to Do Their Jobs?

Do you give your team the tools they need to do their jobs without interruption? Toxic work environments often expect employees to cobble together solutions with outdated technology without having a plan to replace the systems. Sometimes these aren’t even expensive investments, just tools that can make things run smoothly.

How Do We Actively Improve Company Culture?

Your company culture may be the best asset for attracting new talent and retaining satisfied employees. Do you make sure you adjust when something isn’t going right? Do you strive for diversity, equity, and inclusion? Do you provide an opportunity for everyone who works with you to have their voice heard?

What Is Our Online Reputation?

How are you perceived online and in the community? Google your company name or the names of executives and see what comes up on social media platforms. This can give you some real insight into your online reputation. Next, work on improving it. Create consistent branding across all platforms. Post regular content and interact positively with your audience.
