While work will always be work, it’s essential to find joy in our everyday experiences. You can indeed do anything you put your mind to, for a given period. If you know your current role will give you the necessary experience you need to do something else, you can make it work. If you’re unhappy, look at your job as a stepping stone and start to figure out what your next steps should be.
This Job Is Teaching Me About Myself
Some jobs are just a part of your development process. Take a step back and think about how your job has made you see the world differently and feel about yourself differently. It showed you what you liked to do/ not do and provided you the tools for personal growth. Even if you don’t stay at this job forever, these lessons will be invaluable throughout your life.
I’m Employed and Can Pay My Bills
Sometimes, the most straightforward answer is the best one. Maybe you don’t love your job, but you have one, and you can pay your bills, and that might be enough for now. Again, no job has to be permanent, so you can think about your professional and financial goals to determine where you might want to go in the future.
What Amazing Things Happened Today?
Sometimes it’s helpful to take it one day at a time. If you’re feeling down, stop and think about one amazing thing that happened today. It doesn’t even need to be work-related, but there will always be some joy you can find. As an exercise, keep a gratitude journal and write something in it each day, then check back from time to time when you’re feeling frustrated.
